The
Start-IPP project is a project developed by INETI and its
partners EPTA, Ecological Recycling Society (ERS), RAM
EUROPE , AERLIS , National Technical University of Athens,
VALSAN, DURIT, MOLDIT and Instituto do Ambiente co-funded
by the LIFE-Environment program.
Its main objective is to initiate
IPP approaches in Greece and Portugal through the development
of the IPP toolbox focused on enabling the application of a
systematic approach for enabling the integration of environmental
considerations into the whole life cycle of products in the
Mediterranean.
More specifically, the IPP toolbox will
facilitate in searching synergies among IPP tools, identifying
the most viable tools to be applied to specific products;
develop a self-training kit to provide guidance on the application
of the IPP toolbox and its tools.
Other objectives include:

To
test the project’s methodologies at a pilot scale
in companies from the industrial sector;

To
promote the IPP Communication Paper in order to achieve
greater results at an EU level;
|
 |
To
develop a Product-Impact Model (PIM);
|
 |
To
identify products with the greatest environmental
impacts and potential for improvements;
|
 |
To
create a key Stakeholders database and
set-up national stakeholder
groups in each country; and to develop an Electronic
IPP Information Flow Network in order to encourage
dialog and co-operation between stakeholders;

To
promote co-operation and dialogue between key stakeholders
and ensure sufficient information flow between them;
|
 |
To
establish an IPP helpdesk to ensure sufficient provision
of assistance to stakeholders and other interested
parties;
|
 |
To develop
a life-cycle analysis (LCA) database on selected
projects and set the bases for national LCA databases;
|
 |
To
propose IPP strategy at national levels;
|
 |
To
promote the follow up of the StartIPP methodologies
and tools in other EU countries.
